Upload a Video: Local (from computer)

You may upload a local video from your system or select a video already loaded into the WCMS.

Upload From Your Computer

1. Click the Browse or Choose File button under Upload a New File. Browse to the file, select it and click Open. Then select Upload.

2. Under Folder, select Product Videos from
the dropdown menu to store your video
properly. Click Next.

3. Enter a Name that describes the video and
includes important keywords, such as the full product name.

! This text is used by screen readers and search engines, and appears any time a video poster cannot be loaded. Adding alt text improves accessibility and search effectiveness.

4. Under Media Folder, confirm that the
Product Videos or other appropriate
destination folder is selected, so your video
will be stored in the right location.

5. Enter the Video Title.

! Title text appears when a mouse hovers over the video poster image. This provides context and improves usability.

6. Upload a Poster Image. This image,
generally a still frame from the video, will
appear on the page when the video is not
playing. Visit Add an Image for detailed
instructions on choosing an image and
entering the information required.

! Use an image with an aspect ratio equal to
that of your video. If you use an image with
another aspect ratio, it may be stretched or
skewed when it appears on screen.

7. Enter a general Subject for the video, to aid in your future library searches.

8. Input any Tags or keywords that might
aid search engines and users who are
searching for information on this subject.

9. It’s recommended that you leave the Asset
License Type, Countries, Copyright,
Author and Expiry Date blank.

! Do not enter an expiration date unless all
uses of this asset will be expired by that date, or the asset may not appear on other pages as expected.

10. Add URL Redirect details, if you have any
vanity URLs or expired pages directing
here.

11. Add page and content Meta Tags to aid in
search performance and user access. Visit
Meta Tags for details. Select An Existing Video
To use a video already loaded into the WCMS,
select the Library (MBP), My files (MBP) or
Library tab. Browse for the desired image and double click to select.
